By making a booking online, via phone or in person you agree to the below terms and conditions

Licenced Boats

Just a reminder that fuel is an extra cost.
We will have the boat fully fuelled and ready to go and in the water, we will then refill upon your return. (we only charge you for what you use)

Fuel – You will receive the vessel with a full tank of fuel. You will be charged for the fuel that you use in the duration of the hire. This will be taken from the $250.00 deposit taken. Once ABH refuels the boat, we will provide a refund of the difference or charge the credit card provided if the amount goes over $250.00. It can take up to 7 business days for the banks to process the refunds.
If refuelling the boat yourself over a multiple day hire, E10 MUST NOT be used. The hirer will pay all
costs associated with removing the E10 from the vessel.

Airlie Boat Hire will contact you the day prior to your hire, we will confirm all details for your hire on the following day and any outstanding balance for hire will be charged. PLEASE NOTE – Hirers must arrive at the agreed time, failure to do so will result in loss of payment and hire, so please do not be
late.
All licenced boats require a valid National or International Boat Licence.
Please confirm your International Boat Licence is recognised in QLD by going to our website www.airlieboathire.com.au, click on the tab “helpful information” and check with the International Licence Information.

You must be physically fit and suffer from no medical condition which may prevent you from operating a hire boat safely or be aggravated by you taking part in any one or more of the activities such as boating, fishing, swimming, snorkelling and beach combing.

By agreeing with our terms and conditions you consent to receive medical treatment in the event of any medical emergency when taking part in any one or more activities stated above. All charges of 3rd party medical assistance will be passed onto the hirer.

Unlicenced Boats

All unlicenced boats must be only operated in the Pioneer Bay area only. This is from Pioneer Rocks across to Bluff Point. These boats cannot go to the Islands.

The minimum age for the hirer is 18 years old. These boats can take up to 5 passengers, QLD regulations state that children under 12 are considered one passenger.

General Terms and Conditions

Hire Conditions:

The vessel must be always controlled by the holder of a current, valid boat licence, or as the listed driver for the unlicenced boats. All state marine licencing and rules apply. The hirer agrees to NOT allow any other person t o control the vessel, unless they are listed as an authorised driver and is responsible for all occupants and their actions.

Operating the vessel is only permitted in daylight hours from sunrise to sunset. All boats must be returned by the agreed upon time (usually 4pm). If not returned on time, an additional cost of $100 per hour will be charged.

The vessel is to operate and comply with the requirements of the vessel operation and the certificate of survey including – D partially smooth waters or C class offshore waters. This may include distances of operation. Suitable PFD’s (Lifejackets) will be provided for all passengers i.e adult, juvenile, and child (Compulsory for children under 12 years)

The vessel is not to operate in non-smooth waters (at sea) if the swell exceeds 2 metres and if winds exceed 20 knots. The hirer must not operate the vessel in poor weather conditions or here such conditions are imminent. If these conditions are present before the hire proceeds, a transfer of reservation will be granted or refunded in full (minus any credit card or booking fees). ABH will be offered alternation suggestions if weather conditions are not suitable for Whitehaven Beach or the Outer Islands. If the customer chooses not to take the alternative option, 50% of the hire will be forfeited.

Weather forecast monitoring is the responsibility of the hirer to ensure the safety of persons on board the vessel.

Hirer will abide by all Maritime Authority, marine and environmental legislation. The hirer must pay any penalty notices if issued any penalty notices if issued by any Authority, occurring during the hire period. The hirer must pay for any damage or losses caused to the vessel/equipment/trailer during the hire period.

If the owner has agreed to allow the vessel to be towed away.  The hirer is responsible for checking and ensuring that the tow vehicle meets the legal towing requirements of the vessel. The vessel must be returned with a full tank of fuel. ABH will advise of the correct fuel on the day as per what boat is taken. NO E10 allowed on any boat.

The Hirer acknowledges and accepts that the use and operation of this vessel, including for the purposes of water skiing, swimming, marine Stingers, towing a tube, and other such like activities, is subject to inherent risks and dangers. The Hirer accepts those risks and agrees to indemnify the Owner of the Vessel for any losses suffered by the Hirer, any passengers or any third parties as a result of the materialisation of those risks and dangers. The Hirer also undertakes to advise all passengers of the risks and dangers associated with the use and operation of the vessel prior to boarding. The hirer acknowledges and understands all safety material and briefings that have been presented. By signing below, the hirer acknowledges that they have read, understand and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this rental agreement as stated in the terms and conditions and have made themselves familiar with both the location and content of the safety management plan and understand this. The hirer is responsible for all occupants complying with all conditions. If they have presented their credit card for payment, all amounts payable under the agreement and for any road or water violations may be billed to the credit card. Confirmation and sighting of the hirer’s identification will be required.

Giving false or misleading information can result in a fine of up to $10,000.

Cancellation Policy:

You are welcome to cancel the hire up until 48 hours prior to your booking for any reason and will receive a full refund (minus and booking and credit card fees.)

If the weather is forecasted to be over 20-25knots we are not able to send you out. We will provide the option of rescheduling the hire, (subject to availability) or provide a refund (minus booking and credit card fees). We will base this from the weather report the day prior to your booking.

Multiple Day Hire:

When hiring a boat for more than one day, the boat must be refuelled at the end of each day, specifically when camping. If berthing the boat with us (ABH) the boat must be returned by 4pm and we will refuel the boat for you. If berthing the boat elsewhere, you will need to refuel the boat yourself.

If you run out of fuel, especially when camping all towing costs will be at your expense, the price is determined by the relevant towing/rescue company. When booking boats to camp the maximum number of persons on the boat is to be 2 less than advertised. This is to allow for the extra weight of camping gear.

Marine Stingers

Passengers entering the water do so at their own risk. ABH will not be held liable for any personal injury, illness, death or other consequences of passengers being stung by box jellyfish/Irukandji. To minimise this risk, we strongly recommend the hire of protective ‘snorkel stinger suits’ to wear while swimming or snorkelling during their hire.

Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority Marine Charge:

As of 1st July 2023, Great Barrier Reef Marine Park Authority (GBRMPA) is reinstating their Environmental Management Charge (EMC). All bookings on the Yellowfin 6.5m and 7m Southerner as well as the McLay 651 CrossXover will incur a fee of $8 per person (people aged 4 and over) per day, for the first three (3) days of the booking. This fee will manually be added onto your booking, and final numbers will be confirmed the day before your booking.

All fees for this are passed directly onto the GBRMPA for management of the reef.
